Tabletop Design

Seamless Tabletop

Our Seamless Tabletop option is ideal for use in an enclosed patio or indoors. It is not designed for tables that are always left outside in year-round weather conditions. Outdoor tables need room to expand and contract due to the constant changes in moisture and temperature. Our standard tabletops have a 1/16-inch separation between the boards to allow for this movement. Seamless tabletops do not provide this "breathing" room.

Screw Placement

Tabletop and benchtop slats are attached with small stainless steel screws. The standard design is to have the screws showing, flush with the slats. But, if you don't want it that way, just let us know in the comment box and we'll screw them in from below.

Umbrella Hole

Want to enjoy an umbrella with your table? We do not sell umbrellas, but we will drill a two-inch umbrella hole for you at no charge. Simply select this option at check-out. A plug is included with the umbrella hole option– see images at right.

Squared or Rounded Corners

8-Foot Rectangular Picnic Table with Attached Benches - Mature Redwood

Another custom option you may choose, at no additional charge, is to have the corners of both your table and benches be squared (technically, 3/16" radius, for structural soundness), slightly rounded (1/2" radius), or fully rounded (1" radius). The photos show an 8-Foot Picnic Table on the left with squared corners, and our Kid's Picnic Tables on the right with fully rounded corners (1" radius). The 1/2" radius rounding is a compromise between the two (see drawing at right). Just choose which option you would like during checkout.

Custom Cushion for Chair: $65. Option available during checkout with chair purchase. Need just the cushion(s)? Handmade Custom Cushions If you'd like a cushion for your order, please visit Sunbrella Central to choose from the hundreds of outdoor fabrics they have for your cushion. Make a note of the Sunbrella fabric's name and number you'd like. Then, when placing your furniture order, the shopping cart will ask if you'd like a cushion. If you choose the cushion, there will be a box where you can type the fabric name and number. Most Sunbrella fabrics are under $20/yard and are included in the cushion price. If you prefer a premium fabric over $20/yard, just write it in the box at checkout. The cost over $20/yard will be manually added to your order total. Sunbrella fabric is made to sit out in the sun and not fade. It's machine washable. Each cushion has a zipper so you can remove the foam and wash the fabric. We will create and ship your custom cushion with your order. Choose whatever beautiful fabric you like— just let us know the name/number of the fabric you'd like us to order to make your cushion. Outdoor Furniture Covers We can make custom covers for your furniture using Sunbrella fabric. The selection of truly waterproof canvas type materials is limited to a dozen choices of solid colors. Browse through the swatches and let us know which canvas fabric you'd like us to use for which piece of furniture. We will send an estimate for your custom furniture cover within two business days.

Finish Options

Your furniture can be finished in one of five ways (select during checkout):

Premium Sealant
If you want to keep the natural wood tones with a translucent Alkyd oil based product. This finish will hold the surface color for an average of 4 years.
Unfinished
Lets you apply your own stain, or let the wood fade to a "weathered look" in a few months.
Off-White Oil-Based Primer
If you're going to paint in a light color. (We apply two coats.)
Gray Oil-Based Primer
If you're going to paint in a darker color. (We apply two coats.)
Wax Finish
If you plan to use your furniture indoors and would like to keep it looking great without sealant or paint.
