Hi Lee- thanks for your comment. Though we responded to your questions via email, we're posting our answers here as well for the benefit of other customers.

1- "I question if engraving will last as long as a plaque." The engraving is routered into the wood ¼” deep and painted black. It will need to be cleaned every once in a while, but will be fine for decades.

2- "I would like to know shipping to New Hampshire or directly to New York where the 6 foot bench would be placed." The bench will ship via an LTL carrier (e.g., FedEx Freight, Roadways Express) – whichever one gives us the best service and rate to the address you designate. When you add your chosen bench to the shopping cart, you will be able to choose from our various shipping options and see the exact pricing, including standard, discounted, and rush order shipping.

3- "The footing necessary to hold the bench for many years to come." The bench footing will depend on which bench you choose. The Ti Amo, Veterans, and Alan’s benches (http://www.foreverredwood.com/benches_memorial.html) all make wonderful memorial benches. However, our Garden Benches (http://www.foreverredwood.com/benches_garden.html) can also be engraved or adorned with a plaque to make beautiful memorial benches. Once you've chosen, call or email and we'll give you the exact dimensions, if they are not already on the site. Many of our dimensions are visible under the "Dimensions" tab on the product page.

4- "Have you any experience with the DEC in the Adirondacks of New York on a lake there?" Our furniture has been shipped all over the world, including Alaska, the Yukon, and other extreme climates. We recommend the Mature or the Old-Growth Redwood wood grades with our premium sealant for more severe environments. Either of those 2 grades will last for many decades in the year-round weather by the lake.

Long-lasting, attractive outdoor wooden furniture is our specialty. We use only high-quality, extra-thick timbers and all stainless steel hardware. Combining this with an excellent quality sealant will give your memorial bench a very long life!

I am considering a bench in memory of my Mom who just passed on. I question if engraving will last as long as a plaque. I would like to know shipping to New Hampshire or directly to New York where the 6 foot bench would be placed. The footing necessary to hold the bench for many years to come. Just any details that I need to know would be appreciated. I am comparing your bench to total pre-cast. Comments please. Have you any experience with the DEC in the Adirondacks of New York on a lake there?

Thanks,
Lee
