What are your payment policies & financing options?

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009
  1. HOW MUCH WILL BE CHARGED TO MY CARD AT THIS TIME? Most orders have a 50% deposit placed initially. Balance is added when the set is completed. Rush Orders are charged in full when processed. If you are making a large order (over $10,000) and choose the discounted (6 weeks) shipping option, we’ll automatically break down the total into 3 equal payments (1/3rd at order time, 1/3rd three weeks later and 1/3rd at ship out six weeks later).
  2. FINANCING YOUR ORDER: If you’d like to take advantage of a sale but do not need it right away, consider our interest-free lay-away plan. To place a Lay Away order, add a note in the Instructions/Special Requests box at checkout saying “Lay Away” and include the date you’d like your order to ship (up to 6 months). Choose the discounted shipping option for further savings. The total will be split into equal monthly installments with no interest charge to lock in the sale price for you. For example, a $1,000 order shipping 4 months from now will have 5 equal payments of $200 made (one now and one each month for four months). Layaway orders are available year round and are especially popular in the fall and winter as a way to lock in our off-season sale pricing for the holidays or spring and summer deliveries. To place lay away orders via mail, see below:
  3. MAIL ORDERS, PURCHASE ORDERS AND CHECKS/MONEY ORDERS ARE ACCEPTED in one of 2 ways: You can print out your completed checkout box and mail to:

    Forever Redwood
    33800 Annapolis Road
    Annapolis, CA 95412

Hand write any notes as necessary or call/email us if you have questions or prefer to order by phone. If you do not use email, please include a phone number. Orders cannot ship without full payment unless payment is with an approved purchase order (see below). You can mail either a 50% deposit or the order total (to insure your completed order is not delayed waiting for the second half payment). The fast way to process a Mail or a Purchase Order is online. To do so, use our default VISA credit card no. 4111 1111 1111 1111 with any expiration date in the future (default card needed to order with our shopping cart). Add a note in the Instructions/Special Requests box at checkout saying “Payment (or Hardcopy signed Purchase Order) being sent by mail.” This way, your order will be placed in our production queue immediately and will be completed faster. We accept purchase orders from city, state and federal government and from all public schools and Universities in the U.S. only. Because of abuse in the past, we are unable to accept purchase orders from outside the U.S. or from private companies or schools any longer.

Is an in-person signature usually required for large orders shipping by crate?

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

I have a large order shipping by crate. I am concerned about whether or not I will need to be home for delivery.  Is an in-person signature usually required?

When the order ships, we’ll email the tracking information to you the next business day. The shipper will call you when your crate arrives at their warehouse near you. They’ll set up a 4 hour window. By contract, they have to be willing to sit on the crate for up to 5 business days. So, if the first 4 hour window is not convenient, just have them set it when it’s most convenient. You can have them drop it off without a signature, but depending on the carrier we wind up using (won’t know until ship out day), they may require you fax a signed note to the warehouse saying you agreed to have it dropped off without anyone. It is best to have someone be there to make sure the crate is intact, etc… We rarely have damage, but just in case. Thanks.

Do you ship large items in one big (heavy) box, or multiple smaller ones?

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

I am considering ordering the Garden Arbor with Built-In Bench and am curious if it is sent in one package that weighs 250 pounds or does it come in several pieces and boxed so that one person could handle it?

Thank you for your email. The garden arbor ships in about 10 parts for ease of transport. The bench ships in 5 parts. It will arrive in a crate with about 6 to 8 boxes strapped to it. All the hardware is included and assembly takes about an hour for the arbor and 15 minutes for the bench.

How much are your shipping costs?

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

Depending on order total and where you live (we ship from San Diego, CA) your shipping cost will range from FREE up to 18% of the cost of the item. If you’d like to see the exact shipping cost for a particular item, just click the “Add to Cart” button for the item. It will take you to the shopping cart and display the cost and shipping. You will need to enter your zip code and check the drop down menu by the shipping line to make sure you have the correct option selected, then click “Update Cart” to see the actual shipping cost. The shipping module defaults to “Standard – Continental U.S. only (ships in 4-6 weeks)”. We also offer “Priority” shipping options. If you live in California, Priority shipping is discounted and you also have the option of having us hand-deliver and assemble your items. If you live outside the U.S., we have a shipping options available to other countries too! See our Shipping page for more details.

Can your benches be shipped fully assembled?

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

I am considering purchasing an 8-Foot Ti Amo Memorial Bench in Old-Growth Redwood for a donation to a park. Are such benches shipped pre-assembled or in a kit for assembly by purchaser? Can the bench be shipped fully assembled? If so, I would like to know the approximate size and weight of the crate for a fully assembled bench as well as for the unassembled bench in order to obtain a shipping cost estimate and make a decision.

The benches ship in a few easy to assemble parts. It is shipped this way to keep shipping costs down. For example, the Ti Amo ships in 7 parts: the seat is one piece, the backrest is one piece, each arm assembly is one piece, and there are a couple wood braces to tighten the structure. All the parts are marked for ease of reference and the hardware is included. The assembly instructions will be in box number 1.

It can be shipped fully assembled but it would significantly increase the shipping cost. Assembly takes no more than 30 minutes with just a few stainless steel carriage bolts and a couple of braces to tighten up the structure. If the bench ships assembled, the crate will be 8.5′ x 3.5′ x 3′ deep weighing 180 lbs. If it ships unassembled, the crate will be 8.5′ x 1.5′ x 1.5′ weighing 120 lbs.

Can the trucking company carry my purchases to the back yard?

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Can the trucking company carry my purchases to the back yard or do they leave them in the driveway?

Most small-sized orders ship via FedEx in double cardboard boxes. FedEx drops off the boxes at your door. Although shipments can total hundreds of pounds, individual boxes rarely go over 80 lbs.

Larger orders ship in crates with Fed Ex Freight or another nationwide LTL carrier. Bigger items ship partially disassembled on pallets. The pallets are dropped off wherever the truck can reach. The LTL carriers use small trucks with lift gates to lower the pallet onto your yard or driveway. The heavy pallets have padded boxes banded to them. Cut the bands to move the individual boxes (usually under 80 lbs) by hand.

Is the furniture insured against damage from shipping?

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Yes, if a piece is damaged in transit just let us know and it will be replaced free of charge. Depending on the time of year, replacement usually takes one to two weeks. To expedite matters, it is best if any damage is noted at the time of delivery to the driver. But, even if damage is not noted at delivery, we will quickly replace any damaged part. Just call or e-mail us. From 2003 to 2006, we have received damage claims on less than 1.5% of our shipments.

What if I need my furniture in a BIG hurry?

Monday, November 17th, 2008

We can do a RUSH ORDER! We can rush ship most orders within three business days for an additional 10% to 20% (to pay our employees for the overtime shifts and expedited shipping). If you need a Rush Order just choose “Expedited Service” as your shipping method. We will send you an e-mail confirming your order and the expected delivery date. Please allow transit time of three to five business days depending on location.

Rush Orders in California can either ship Standard Ground (2 or 3 transit days) or be hand-delivered and assembled by our own assembly team (call or email for time availability and pricing).

If you are in a time crunch and must have your order arrive within a couple days, we can send items overnight or 2-day air. Shipping rates are much higher with overnight or 2-day air service nationwide, but if it absolutely positively has to be there in 2 or 3 days, just let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

All online Rush orders will receive an email confirming your Rush Order and the expected arrival date.

Do you allow pick up for firewood?

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

I am interested in 2 cords of firewood. Is it possible to pick up the wood myself or do you have to deliver?

Our firewood is in Annapolis, CA, where our forestland is. You are welcome to make the trip—but it’s a long drive!
