![]() Custom Cut Lumber & PolesOld-Growth LumberWe have reclaimed some of the redwood logs left on the forest floor when our old-growth forest was harvested in the 1960's. (These old logs are called "buckskins".) We have limited quantities of this exquisite wood in the form of custom cut lumber— cut to your specifications. The old-growth lumber is all heartwood. It is available kiln-dried or green from a recently re-sawed reclaimed log. We also offer other grades of Redwood and Douglas-fir in wood grades ranging in quality from clear vertical tight grain material to knotty open-grain boards. Tight-grained old-growth is hard to find because of over cutting in the past and today's common practice of harvesting most trees while still relatively young. For more on our wood grades, please click the link or photos above. Dimensions, Pricing & Delivery
Prices range from $2.50 to $14.00 per board foot depending on the grade and size. Inventory is usually on hand. We work with nationwide trucking companies to deliver anywhere in the continental United States within two weeks. Please call or send an e-mail to discuss your specific requirements. We will do it for a percentage of the wood and no money changes hands. We will do this as along as the log(s) was from reclaimed work or was from a tree that blew over in a storm. We do not do milling trades from logging operations or other harvesting operations. ![]() Above is a sculpture done with large logs we shipped to a world famous artist. We can ship logs of almost any size almost anywhere. These logs were originally 5 feet in diameter and over 18 feet long. Contact us if you need more diameter than our poles available to the left and below. Redwood Poles
These poles are the result of thinning the redwood forest as part of our restoration work. We thin out young and overcrowded, re-sprouting rings of redwoods to leave the best formed and most vigorous to grow to maturity with less competition. We sell these "sprouts" with the bark on, and— depending on the amount of sun exposure— the bark will remain intact for ten to twenty years. Using poles is a rustic way to create a pergola and save money. You can build your own pergola (or any pole structure) like the ones shown here. We recommend that you notch the poles with a small chain saw— this will increase the strength of the structure— and then fasten the poles together with carriage bolts and lag bolts. We would be happy to design, build and ship a custom pole pergola for you that is notched and ready to assemble. Just call us for pricing information. Many of our customers have been requesting redwood poles to build all sorts of rustic outdoor structures. Get a chainsaw and have fun with your project. Feel free to send us photos— we love to see what our customers create!
