General Questions
- HOW MUCH WILL BE CHARGED TO MY CARD AT THIS TIME? Most orders are placed by credit card or Paypal and are charged in full when placed. If you are making a large purchase and would like to pay only a 50% deposit upfront, please choose the Check Payment method. Send a check for 50% of the total and we will remind you when your order is nearing completion to mail the balance due. When paying by check, we recommend you send the check for payment as soon as possible because we cannot begin work on any order until payment is received.
- MAIL ORDERS, PURCHASE ORDERS AND CHECKS/MONEY ORDERS ARE ACCEPTED in one of 2 ways: You can print out your completed checkout box and mail to:
Forever Redwood
33710 Annapolis Road
Annapolis, CA 95412
Hand write any notes as necessary or call/email us if you have questions or prefer to order by phone. If you do not use email, please include a phone number. Orders cannot ship without full payment unless payment is with an approved purchase order (see below). You can mail either a 50% deposit or the order total (to insure your completed order is not delayed waiting for the second half payment).
We have decided to keep the furniture unopened and stored in our carriage house. We do not expect to find anything wrong with it when we open it in the spring. However, if we did find a problem upon opening could we contact you to take care of any issues?
Yes, of course. If you are missing something, or there is any issue, just send a quick email and we will get on it.
Can the trucking company carry my purchases to the back yard?
Small-sized orders ship via UPS or FedEx in double cardboard boxes. UPS and FedEx drop off the boxes at your door. Although shipments can total hundreds of pounds, individual boxes are always below 80 lbs.
Larger orders ship in crates with Road Runner Transportation or other nationwide LTL carriers. The crates are dropped off wherever the truck can reach. The LTL carriers use box trucks with lift gates to lower the crate onto your yard or driveway. The crates have padded boxes banded to them. If your driveway reaches your backyard, then you can often offer the driver a few dollars to use his pallet jack to take the crate as far as your driveway will allow. Once on the ground, just remove one of the crate sides with either a crowbar if you want to tear it off or with a power drill to unscrew it and then cut the plastic and the bands to move the individual boxes (usually under 80 lbs) by hand.
Can you send someone out to set up my furniture?
If you live in California, Nevada, or Arizona we can deliver AND assemble your furniture for you. If your order is large and further away, call or email us. Odds are we can get our team to you to do the install if you are not in a hurry. Please contact us as fees will vary based on your order and your exact location.
Can your benches be shipped fully assembled?
The benches ship in a few easy to assemble parts. It is shipped this way to keep shipping costs down. For example, the Ti Amo Bench ships in 7 parts: the seat is one piece, the backrest is one piece, each arm assembly is one piece, and there are a couple wood braces to tighten the structure. All the parts are marked for ease of reference and the hardware is included. The assembly instructions will be in box number 1 and can also be downloaded for any product right from the Product Page (just go to the Assembly & Care tab).
If you'd like your furniture shipped fully assembled, it can be done but it will significantly increase the shipping cost because the size of the packaging will multiply. For example, if the same 8 ft Ti Amo bench ships assembled, the crate will be 8.5′ x 3.5′ x 3′ deep weighing 180 lbs. If it ships unassembled, the crate will be 8.5′ x 1.5′ x 1.5′ weighing 120 lbs.
Do you allow pick up for firewood?
We no longer sell firewood. We have decided to instead cut the over represented hardwoods and leave them on the forest floor to build up the soil and create other ecological benefits instead of removing for firewood.
Do you ship large items in one big (heavy) box, or multiple smaller ones?
Usually the larger items ship in multiple small boxes that are strapped to a crate. If you live in a building where receiving crates is difficult, just let us know. For most orders, we can ship multiple boxes that are double padded instead of a crate as long as they are not too long.
How much are your shipping costs?
Depending on order total and where you live (we ship from San Diego, CA) your shipping cost will range from FREE up to 20% of the cost of the item. If you'd like to see the exact shipping cost for a particular item or items, just add them to your shopping cart and enter your address in the shipping information section. Depending on where we are shipping to, you'll see the shipping options offered with the timelines and costs. Please visit our shipping page for more details.
Is the furniture insured against damage from shipping?
Yes, if a piece is damaged in transit just let us know and it will be replaced free of charge. Depending on the time of year, replacement usually takes one to two weeks. To expedite matters, it is best if any damage is noted at the time of delivery to the driver. But, even if damage is not noted at delivery, we will quickly replace any damaged part. Just call or e-mail us. From 2003 to 2016, we have received damage claims on less than 0.5% of our shipments.

Canadian Customer Questions
Can you ship to Canada?
Yes, we can ship any of our products anywhere in Canada. You can see the shipping cost by adding any time to your cart.
Do Canadian customers qualify for the Wait & Save Shipping option?
We ship to Canada each week. We do not normally offer the Wait & Save option or Free Shipping for out of U.S. Orders because our actual freight costs are higher than what we charge our customers and just cannot do so. If you are contemplating a substantial sized order and are not in a hurry to receive it, email us with your plans and we will let you know what additional volume and courtesy discounts we can add to help you save on your order.
Can you provide me with more information on how I would use the check option? Is it a wire transfer you require? Can the order be placed via your website and paid via a wire transfer or does the option of orders by check need to be done over the phone?
For international orders, actual physical checks are best avoided. But, yes, you can pay by wire transfer anytime if you choose. We can send the wiring information over to you anytime. It is a Bank of America account we use. Uust call or email and we will send the wiring instructions to you.
Is shipping included in the price base for the discount or not? When is shipping payable, at time of order or at shipment?
Our cost to ship to Canada is very high. We actually charge only a portion of the actual shipping cost to our customers. We cannot waive the shipping charge for you, but, we pay on average 30% more than we actually charge in the Shipping options page on our website. .
What value do you provide for Canadian Customs purposes? is it the regular price before discounts or final sale price?
It is your net cost after all discounts. The actual net invoice amount.
Have you had any Canadian customers comment on whether duties are applicable or not?
We prepare the brokerage paperwork for the border crossing and the shipper will ring you when the crate clears customs to set up the delivery time that is convenient for you. Most provinces in Canada require that US shipment pay PST. I think only one province does not have to if I remember right.

Crates
Is an in-person signature usually required for large orders shipping by crate?
When the order ships, we'll email the tracking information to you the next business day. If it is a large crated order, the shipper will call you when your crate arrives at their warehouse near you. They'll set up a 4 hour window. By contract, they have to be willing to sit on the crate for up to 5 business days. So, if the first 4 hour window is not convenient, just have them set it when it's most convenient. You can have them drop it off without a signature, but depending on the carrier we wind up using (won't know until ship out day), they may require you fax a signed note to the warehouse saying you agreed to have it dropped off without anyone eing home to receive it. It is best to have someone be there to make sure the crate is intact, etc... We rarely have damage, but just in case. Smaller sized orders ship UPS or Fed Ex ground and can be left without a signature. If you'd like that, just make a note in the comment section at checkout and we'll confirm your request when we receive the order.
Redwood Crates Project
Wow. Got this email today from someone that made a whole set of fencing, planters, a small entryway arch and other things just from the crating we sent for a large order recently. Our crating is mostly made from scraps of Redwood and Douglas-Fir so it is also long lasting. Don't throw away the crating!
Hello!
I was helping one of your customers with the furniture they ordered from you and noticed the beautiful crates it all came in. They weren't going to do anything with the crates so I asked if I could have them knowing I would come up with some purpose for them. Here are some pictures of the projects. I first made my mom planter boxes for Mother's Day and then made a beautiful fence in front of my house. I hope you all at Forever Redwood like how I have re-purposed the redwood crates. Everyone that comes by my neighborhood loves it.
Here the pictures:
A nice reuse of your pallets
I wanted to share some pictures on how I was able to reuse your shipping pallets to make a nice side cart.
My friend Fritz Lehman ordered furniture from you. When the furniture arrived he was very intrigued with how different the shipping pallets were.
He asked if I had any desire to take the pallets. I jumped at the opportunity to do so but at that time I wasn’t exactly sure what I was going to make.
I decided to make a side cart. All the wood for the side cart came from your pallets, except the dowel handle. J
Thanks for allowing me to make some good use of your pallets.
Oh Fritz ordered some more furniture. I am looking forward to round two. Now what to make?
Attached you will find two pictures of the unfinished product and two pictures of the finished product.
Thanks,
Enzo
