Punta Banda Bunk Beds - Dimensions & Drawings
All beds are 76"H total to the top of the safety railings, 66"H to the top of the upper mattress framing, and 62"H to the base of the upper mattress framing. Drawers are 7 1/2"H.
The upper mattress sits inside the frame 4 1/2". The standard safety rails are exactly 10" above the frame. Depending on the thickness of the mattress you are using, this is usually sufficient. If you are using a thick mattress or would just like the safety rails to be taller, you can choose our tall safety rail option at check out (16" instead of 10").
The Punta Banda bed does not need a box spring. The bed comes with plenty of strong Bunkie boards to support the mattress by itself. There are 47 inches of "head space" between the lower Bunkie boards where the mattress sits and the bottom edge of the upper Bunkie boards.
Each bed in the Redwood grade can support up to 750 lbs, and in Douglas-fir, up to 900 lbs total weight.
Each bed, regardless of Mattress size or wood grade chosen, can support over 1,000 lbs total weight if necessary. Upper bunks are designed to easily handle up to 500 lbs capacity. If you require more weight for any reason, just let us know and we can add additional re-inforcement for a small additional charge.

Notes:
- Standard mattress sizes are:
Twin: 75" x 39", Double: 75" x 54", Queen: 80" x 60", and King: 80" x 76". - For purposes of determining the "north" end of the bed, please assume you are looking at the bed in front of you with the length of the mattresses running from left to right. The left side is North and the right side is South. Yes, it is arbitrary, but we had to pick it one way or another!
