We were contacted by a design firm to develop an authentic Chinese pavilion complete with railings to enclose and define the space in a traditional fashion. After much research, we created these conceptual drawings of The Dragon Pavilion. Each structure that comes out of our workship is built in relationship with our customer. We will work with you to fine tune it to your vision and expectations, so please take the Dragon as shown as a starting point to designing a focal point for your ideal traditional Chinese garden.

All You Need is a Few Tools and a Friend.
Assembly is best done by firends. The structures need a ratchet wrench, a hammer and a ladder to put them together. In some cases, you might need a drill to attach the posts into concrete. As with all our products, we preassemble all structures in our shop to ensure everything fits together. All hardware is included and all parts are clearly labeled before it is shipped. We also include detailed step-by-step instructions.
Take a look at our assembly instructions below for specific details. If you plan to pour concrete to hold the posts, the project will require an additional half day prior to assembly. Please do the concrete pour a few days prior to assembly to allow the concrete to cure.
Installation Help.
Special talent is not required to re-assemble our pergolas. But, if you would like help, just let us know. We have our own team for installations in California, Nevada and Southern Arizona and a network of local contractors we recommend for farther afield.
Our White Glove Assembly is a complete onsite assembly and anchoring service. Our installation teams are now available in all 50 states! Know more about our Wite Glove Assembly service.
DIY: For moderately-sized structures (up to 400 sqft.), some of our customers choose to save money by doing the assembly themselves. In general, the larger the structure, the more people and time you will need: we recommend a minimum of 3 people. If you have assembly questions, just give us a call!
Care: You should expect your furniture to last outside for a minimum of 10-40 years without maintenance, even in climates with harsh year-round conditions. Because of our high quality wood, the silver patina that will naturally occur is surface deep (less than 1/64") and is not indicative of decay. We keep our display items without refinishing as examples show off their natural aging. We like the patina! If you’d like to keep your set looking its best for decades please visit: Care and Finish.
